Description

Oracle 8.x introduced a potentially very useful feature called Global Temporary Tables, which can radically reduce the amount of redo an application generates. This can have a profound impact on sites that have an I/O bottleneck yet can not increase the capacity of their I/O subsystem. This paper documents the results of my experiments regarding Global Temporary Tables focusing on redo reduction.
